Change of hands for Borders cycling event
Cycling’s Tour o’ the Borders is changing hands.
Selkirk’s Durty Events is taking over management of the closed-road sportive, known as Touro for short, from Peebles’ Hillside Outside, starting with next September’s edition.

Announcing that switch, event founder Neil Dalgleish posted: “Having launched and run Touro since 2012, it’s time for me to step back and hand over to someone else for the next exciting stage for one of the UK’s premier sportive events.
“From 2027 onwards, Tour o’ the Borders will be operated by fellow Borders event organiser Paul McGreal, who runs Durty Events.
“The event is in excellent hands and much of the team currently producing it will continue in their roles.
“It’s been a privilege to manage the event all these years, and I’m very pleased to say I’m planning to actually ride Touro in 2027, something I’ve wished I could do every year since 2012.
“A huge thanks to everyone who has helped, worked at or ridden this event over the years – I’ll hopefully see lots of you on the start-line next September, and this time I won’t be wearing hi-vis and clutching a radio to my face.”
Next year’s tour takes place on Sunday, September 5, and entries are open now, costing £79 until the end of January and £84 afterwards.
Routes of 55 or 75 miles, both starting and finishing in Peebles, will be on offer.
First staged in 2012, it’s been contested on closed roads since 2014, taking in Innerleithen and Traquair.
