Two Scottish Golf order of merit titles go to St Andrews club
A third of Scottish Golf’s six order of merit titles for 2026 have been claimed by a St Andrews club.
St Regulus Ladies’ Golf Club’s two champions this time round are Abigail May and Carly McDonald.

May is 2026’s women’s champion and McDonald has ended up on top of the girls’ order of merit for the second year on the bounce.
The former totted up 735 points at five events to finish almost 150 clear of runner-up Ailsa Brannock, of Dumfries and Galloway’s Southerness Golf Club, with East Kilbride’s Susan Woodhouse third on 560.

It having been May’s final year as a junior, the 18-year-old also featured on the girls’ leaderboard, topped by McDonald with 1,455 points from five events, placing fourth on 995, also from a handful of events.
McDonald, 15, ended up 20 points clear of Blairgowrie’s Stella Walters, with Deeside’s Hannah Ounap third on 1,375 from six events.
Following totting-up of points picked up at area and county competitions, national championships and international opens, the men’s title went to Portlethen’s Ben Murray, the boys’ to Blairgowrie’s Fraser Walters, the senior men’s to Royal Troon’s Robert Jenkins and the female version to Eyemouth’s Jillian Lough.
Applauding the Pilmour Links club pair and this year’s four other winners, Clare Queen, head of performance and pathways at Scottish Golf, said: “Many congratulations to our winners, who showed consistent and excellent form over the course of the season to emerge victorious.
“Our junior winners are both hugely exciting talents. Carly and Fraser are improving year on year and it’s fascinating to watch them develop and take on new challenges.
“Abigail competed in both girls and women’s events this year, which is never easy to do, but she merited her win and has gone to college in America with a spring in her step.”
May started her season with a joint-11th finish at the Helen Holm Scottish Women’s Open in Troon and joint-sixth at the Welsh Women’s Open.
She progressed as top seed from stroke-play qualifying at the Scottish Women’s Amateur at Southerness, reached the match-play quarter-finals there.
Now a student at Baylor University in Texas, she also competed for Scotland’s women at the sport’s European team championships and home internationals, both held in Ireland over the summer.
McDonald chalked up three major wins – the Scottish Girls’ Open at Luffness, the Scottish Girls’ Amateur at Pollok to retain her title and the R&A’s Under-16 Girls’ Amateur at Gog Magog in Cambridgeshire.
She was also a member of Scotland’s European team championships and home internationals squads and represented Great Britain and Ireland at 2026’s Junior Vagliano Trophy in County Dublin.
Fife clubs racked up a further couple of top-five placings, with St Andrews Golf Club’s Finlay Galloway ranking as fifth on the men’s leaderboard, on 450 points from seven events, and May and McDonald’s clubmate Elaine Moffat finishing as third senior woman, on 390 points from three competitions, and Lundin Golf Club’s James White wasn’t far off as sixth senior man, on 440 points from five contests
