Wins for Coldstream, Linton Hotspur and Vale of Leithen on East of Scotland Football League duty

Coldstream, Linton Hotspur and Vale of Leithen all racked up wins on East of Scotland Football League duty on Saturday, with Hawick Royal Albert the region’s only representatives not to pick up any points.

Manager David Brown’s Streamers and opposite numbers Ruairidh Fleming and Paul Currie’s Hotspur both registered home victories, by 2-1 against Fife’s Kennoway Star Hearts and 4-1 versus West Lothian’s Fauldhouse United respectively.

Also ending up on the right side of their scoreline were gaffer Ger Rossi’s Vale, by 1-0 away to Stirling University, but Kenny Aitchison’s Royalists lost out by 5-3 hosting Perth and Kinross side Luncarty.

Those results see Coldstream and Vale on the up and Hotspur and Albert remaining static in their respective tables.

Coldstream edge up one place to tenth in EoSFL division one, now on 17 points from 13 fixtures, and Vale, on 13 from 11, go up two to eighth in the league’s second division south-east conference.

Vale’s conference rivals Hostspur and Albert stay third and fourth respectively, on 24 from 13 and 20 from 12.

All four of the region’s EoSFL clubs face Fife opposition this coming Saturday.

Coldstream, Hotspur and Hawick are all on the road – respectively to Oakley United, Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts and Burntisland Shipyard – and Vale are at home to Newburgh at Innerleithen’s Victoria Park.

Kick-off in Oakley is at 2pm and the other three matches start half an hour later.

Coldstream head up to Oakley hoping for a third win there on the spin after ones by 2-0 last November and 1-0 in April last year in the EoSFL’s old second division, though they did lose out to the Fifers in between at home last August, by 3-1.

Hotspur will be bidding for a third league victory on the trot after getting the better of Swifts on second division duty by 5-3 at home in February and 3-2 away last August, though an East of Scotland Football League Cup first-round tie in Dalgety Bay in February this year went the way of their hosts by 4-1.

Albert, on the other hand, will be out to end a four-match winless streak against Shippy going back eight years, having lost to them 4-1 in May 2022 and 3-0 in September 2018, as well as drawing 2-2 in February 2020, at home and also being handed a 6-0 thumping on the road in July 2021.

Vale’s track record versus Newburgh isn’t any better as they’ve yet to beat them after three previous meetings, drawing 1-1 at home in April after losing away by 2-1 that same month and 3-2 in August 2025, all in the old EoSFL third division.

Captain Thomas Grey scored both of Coldstream’s goals against Kennoway at the weekend, on 13 minutes and 84, with Dale Prattis on target for the visitors on 79.

Hotspur’s scorers, three of them finding the back of the net in the space of four minutes, were Marcis McIntyre on the half-hour mark, Robbie Renwick on 51 minutes, Stephen Manson on 53 and Pol Adrian on 55, with their opponents getting one back on 43.

Kyle Kivlichan got the only goal of Vale’s game in Stirling, 52 minutes in.

Netting for Albert were Ben Tracey one minute in and Ayoola Olusoji on 31 and 78, with Callum Proudfoot and Dayle Robertson on target at the double for their visitors, on 43 and 89 and on 50 and 84, as well as Cammy Robertson on 40.
