Thousands flock to Borders Art Fair
Around 4000 visitors from all across the UK flocked to the annual MacInroy & Wood Borders Art Fair in Kelso last weekend.
More than 80 contemporary artists and galleries, many from the Borders, were showing a huge array of paintings, drawings, ceramics, digital art and printmaking, with partial figures already show art sales approaching £200,000.

Frances Fergusson, Director of the Borders Art Fair, said: “Despite all the doom and gloom in the news, the atmosphere at the event was fantastic, with plenty of positive feedback from exhibitors and visitors.
“We’re especially pleased that the event’s growing reputation is now attracting visitors from as far afield as Nottingham and Aberdeen, which is a real testament to the level of talent on display.”

Taking place at The Borders Event Centre, the fair not only featured a large number of stands but also included demonstrations in the Artists at Work area, plus the popular Doodle Wall where visitors showed off their own artistic talents.
The team from Allanbank Arts ran free afternoon workshops. One involved creating a triptych showing Borders landmarks all made from recycled materials, with another where people made birds and flying creatures of every kind from paper.
Visitors were also able to relax and refuel at the indoor food village.
