Nostalgia: Gala seven triumph at 1970 Netherdale tournament

Ordinarily we would be counting down to the annual Galashiels rugby sevens tournament, but ongoing restrictions to prevent the spread of coronavirus mean the Netherdale event, set to expand to festival proportions this year, has been cancelled.

We’ve delved through our archives to share this photo of happier times, though. It shows the victorious hosts at 1970’s tournament after beating Llanelli in the final.
