Funding competition for new businesses
A funding competition aimed at identifying and supporting Scotland’s entrepreneurial talent is opening up for a second round.
Scottish EDGE is set to provide more opportunities for entrepreneurs living outside the central belt thanks to a second round of its successful Regional EDGE competition.

Funded by the Hunter Foundation, the Royal Bank of Scotland, the Scottish Government and Scottish Enterprise, the competition is delivered twice per year and has supported 569 early-stage Scottish businesses with over £25 million in award funding.
Regional EDGE is inviting all start-ups with growth ambitions from the Borders to apply, with eligible businesses having the opportunity to win up to £50,000 in funding.
Now in its second year, Regional EDGE awards funding through a competitive Scottish EDGE process.
The awards are delivered in partnership with South of Scotland Enterprise – with each region hosting its own final, selecting five winners per area.
Awards in each region will consist of one top award of £50,000, two £15,000, and two £10,000 awards.
Jane Morrison-Ross, Chief Executive at South of Scotland Enterprise, said: “We are delighted to see Regional EDGE continue to support innovation and entrepreneurship in rural areas.
For the South of Scotland this is critical and aligns with both the pilot and phase 2 Pathways projects as well as our wider work on entrepreneurship and high growth/scale deep start-ups. Shining a light on the innovation that exists in Scotland’s regions is vital. ”
Evelyn McDonald, CEO at EDGE, added: “Now in its second year, the return of Regional EDGE competition demonstrates our commitment to nurturing innovation and entrepreneurship across Scotland.
“With continued support from the Scottish Government and our dedicated delivery partners, we are proud to again shine a spotlight on high-growth start-ups.
"Being able to provide critical funding and expert mentorship will help a new cohort of ambitious entrepreneurs make their businesses a success.”
Entries for the Regional EDGE competition are open now.
The window remains open until Wednesday, February 11, with live pitching finals and awards following in each region between March 12-26.
