Four of nine Border Amateur Football Association clubs in South of Scotland Amateur Cup action book places in round two
Four of the nine Border Amateur Football Association clubs in South of Scotland Amateur Cup first-round action on Saturday made it through to round two.
All four of those to secure passage to the next round did so at the expense of fellow association sides and on home turf, scoring 23 goals between them on the way – Duns Amateurs, Eyemouth United Amateurs, Kelso Thistle and Tweeddale Rovers respectively beating Leithen Rovers 6-0, Hawick Waverley 2-2, Tweedmouth Amateurs 7-0 and Stow 8-0.

The only other association outfit in round-one action at the weekend, Chirnside United, went out 9-0 away to Lothian Athletic in Edinburgh.
On the scoresheet for defending A division champions Duns, winners of the cup last season for the fifth time, against their Innerleithen opposition were Nicky Gordon with a hat-trick, Gregor Watson, Kieran Burns and Alan Jess.
Eyemouth’s scorers were AJ Cook and Daniel Blackie, with Louis Bonini replying.
Thistle’s versus their Northumbrian visitors were Louie Arnold with a hat-trick, Sam Wood at the double, Callum Phillips and Michael Pattinson.
Luke Maclean at the double, Doug Knox, Robbie McNaughton, Grant Wilson, David Lindsay, Dylan Thearle and Scott Inglis netted for Tweeddale.
Six round-one ties involving association teams were called off due to piches being waterlogged, with all but one rescheduled for this coming Saturday.
Those five rescheduled games see Earlston Rhymers hosting Coldstream Amateurs, Greenlaw at home to Carluke Thistle and Hawick United, Gala Hotspur and Jedburgh and Ancrum Reivers all on the road, respectively to Berwick’s Highfields United, South Lanarkshire’s Law Community and East Lothian’s Longniddry Villa.
Hawick Legion’s scheduled first-round tie at home to Berwick Town has yet to be allocated a new date.
One league game was also played on Saturday, a 2-0 B division defeat for Selkirk Victoria away to Langholm Legion.
Six league fixtures are lined up for this Saturday, three in each division.
The A division’s games take Leithen Rovers back to Duns for the second successive Saturday, Stow to Eyemouth and Chirnside to Tweeddale.
Selkirk head to Berwick Town, Langholm to Tweedmouth and Waverley to Hawick Legion in the B division.
All 11 games lined up for this Saturday kick off at 2pm.
