Lest we forget a covenant event is held this week
Scottish Borders Council will uphold a pledge made to service veterans at a gathering later this week.
Councillor John Greenwell, SBC’s vice-convener and Armed Forces and veterans champion, is inviting veterans to ‘The Armed Forces Covenant Engagement Event’ taking place on Friday, March 13 from 11.30am at council headquarters in Newtown St Boswells.

The Armed Forces Covenant is a national promise to ensure that those who serve or have served in the armed forces, along with their families, are treated with fairness, respect and face no disadvantage in society compared to other citizens.
It aims to remove obstacles for serviced personnel in areas like healthcare, education, and housing.
The purpose of this engagement event is to bring together businesses, charities, the local authority, and employers to connect with the covenant.
It will help identify and tackle any specific areas that support is required.
Spaces are limited but there are still some remaining here.
