Remembrance display is unveiled in Peebles garden
Pupils and Guides have helped create a remembrance display at the Floral Peebles Tribute Garden in the town’s Old Town.
More than 30 Peebles High School pupils shared their thoughts on war for the display. Their words have been printed and framed in the garden, while members of the 3rd Peebles Guides have painted stones to decorate the path.

The display reflects on the horrors of war and pays tribute to those who fought for their country. It also recognises people who have made a difference to others in the community.
Visitors can read verse contributed by local people alongside lyrics by artists including Gracie Fields, Bob Dylan and John Lennon.
The display also features the words to ‘Willie McBride’ with permission from songwriter Eric Bogle, who is from Peebles and now lives in Australia.
The garden first explored the devastation of war in November 2025. It went on to highlight global warming and wildfires before becoming the Garden of Recovery.
The next display, Nature’s Treasure Chest, is due to go in at the end of November. Pupils from the town’s three primary schools will help write about plants, weather and the seasons, and are being encouraged to collect nuts, cones and seeds for the plot.
In April 2027, the garden will take on a new theme, Nature’s Paint Box, as 600 tulips are expected to bloom.
Floral Peebles thanked everyone whose donations have helped make the displays possible.
