IN PICTURES: Borderers support the final organised Clap for Carers

Thousands of Borderers have joined in the national “Clap for our Carers” initiative, since it began ten weeks ago, to pay tribute to NHS workers and carers who are continuing to work during the coronavirus lock down.

As well as clapping there have been the sounds of fireworks, bagpipes, cheers and whistling in the region’s streets simultaneously at 8pm every Thursday. However, yesterday was the final organised thank you after organiser Annemarie Plas, the Dutch woman who formed the idea inspired by the votes of thanks given to health workers in her home country, suggested it should end on a high.
