As well as clapping there have been the sounds of fireworks, bagpipes, cheers and whistling in the region’s streets simultaneously at 8pm every Thursday. However, yesterday was the final organised thank you after organiser Annemarie Plas, the Dutch woman who formed the idea inspired by the votes of thanks given to health workers in her home country, suggested it should end on a high.
