More foster carers needed in the Borders

The sessions are being held as part of the council’s ongoing requirement to recruit foster carers to care for children and young people aged between 0–21 who have a diverse range of needs.

The council is particularly keen to hear from people interested in caring for adolescents as there are a number of teenagers in urgent need of a family placement.

Staff and carers are going to be present at the following sessions in Galashiels:

•Transport Interchange – Thursday 11 and Friday 12 February, 10am-4pm

•Pop-up Shop, Channel Street – Thursday 18 and Friday 19 February, 10am-4pm

•Tesco Supermarket, Thursday 25 February, 10am-4pm

Councillor Frances Renton, SBC’s executive member for social work and housing, said: “All children in care need a family they can grow up with who can love them, be ambitious for them and help them achieve their potential.

“Foster care is considered the best option for children in care and we are always keen to speak to people who would be interested in joining our team of dedicated and committed carers.

“These sessions are an excellent way of finding out more and asking any questions you might have.”
