Heavier sheep slightly harder to cash with in spec sheep meeting a good trade.

Border Livestock Exchange to week ending Friday April 11 sold 199 Prime Cattle including 61 Cows; 625 Prime Sheep including 241 Cast Ewes and 176 Store and Breeding Cattle.

Aberdeen Angus Cross Heifers from Fenwick Steads, Belford sold to 385p per kg to Well Hung & Tender, Berwick upon Tweed. Prime Cattle prices in general were slightly easier on the week with most classes back 3/5p per kg. Cows were satisfactory with a tremendous consignment from Harehope Farm, Wooler selling to £1,184. Simmental Cross Cows from Broadmeadows, Berwick upon Tweed sold to £1,126 per head. Hereford Cross Cows from Bowsden Moor, Berwick upon Tweed topped at 280p per kg.

Prime Lambs sold to 485p per kg and £115 for heavy weight Texel Crosses from Hillhead, Wooler and West Mains respectively.

Store Cattle were still good to sell with well-bred sorts commanding a premium.
