Flying cars, hoverboards and robots

And, according to most of the boys, there will be flying cars, hoverboards and robots doing our chores, while girls were really interested to hear about where their clothing would come from as we may have to grow all our own food and make our own clothes.

Janis has released the third book in her Time Traveller series – The Unlikely Time Traveller.

The series revolves around Saul, a Peebles lad who reluctantly has to go forward in time to the 22nd Century to rescue a schoolmate.

Janis said: “I based Saul on my nephew, who lives in Peebles.

“The town is quite small so it is a good place for children to have a nice life, but it also has a sense of history.

“The school visits have been rather fun, as thinking about the future does tend to ignite a child’s imagination.”

The other two books in the trilogy, The Accidental Time Traveller and The Reluctant Time Traveller, both look into Peebles’ past.

Janis added: “During my research I found out about a spy – Carl Hans Lody – who stayed in the County Hotel in the town ... he was the first spy to be executed in the Tower of London during the First World War.”

Janis will visit St Ronan’s Primary tomorrow (Friday).
