Richard Ashcroft hitting road and returning to Scotland
Alternative rock icon Richard Ashcroft is heading out on tour next month and he’s playing two Scottish dates and a couple of others not too far south of the border.
The Greater Manchester-born 54-year-old will be visiting Glasgow twice, calling in at the city’s Ovo Hydro on Tuesday, March 31, and returning for a slot at this year’s Trnsmt festival on Friday, June 19.

He can also be seen the other side of Hadrian’s Wall at Leeds’ First Direct Bank Arena on Thursday, April 2, and Newcastle’s Utilita Arena on Monday, April 6.
The former Verve frontman’s Glasgow dates are his first in Scotland as a headliner since a June 2022 visit to Edinburgh’s Royal Headline Centre, though he did play three support slots for Oasis at the capital’s Murrayfield Stadium last August, and his Leeds and Newcastle shows are his first since July 2022 and April 2019 respectively.
Ashcroft’s upcoming tour follows the release of his seventh solo album, Lovin’ You, in October.
It made it to No 3, keeping up a streak of top-five hits starting with his 2000 chart-topper Alone With Everybody and continued by 2002’s Human Conditions and 2016’s These People, both No 3s; 2006’s Keys to the World and 2021’s Acoustic Hymns Vol 1, both No 2s; and 2018’s Natural Rebel, a No 4.
He’s also notched up two top-five solo singles, A Song for the Lovers in 2000 and Break the Night With Colour in 2006, both No 3s.
His four albums with the Verve include two No 1s, 1997’s Urban Hymns and 2008’s Forth, and they were accompanied by three top-five singles – 1997’s Bitter Sweet Symphony and The Drugs Don’t Work, a No 2 and No 1 respectively, and 2008’s Love is Noise, a No 4.
Tickets to see him in Glasgow cost £47.35 to £81.95 next month and £82.56 in the summer and they’re £56 to £113 in Leeds and £39 to £144 in Newcastle. For details, go to https://richardashcroft.com/news/
