Preview: Tim Dalling, Ian Carr and Neil Harland.

Heart of Hawick's Live Music Mondays continue in style next week with a trio of top musicians.

String Theory’s first auditorium gig of the year features Tim Dalling, Ian Carr and Neil Harland.

Down the years, Tim Dalling has brought tears to the cheeks of many incredulous audiences as the kilted accordion-playing fall guy with The New Rope String Band (and The Old Rope String Band before that)...and stunned those same people with hugely-accomplished musicianship that lies at the very core of his massively-creative spirit.

His other side, for many, has been his best-kept secret – he is a song-writer and performer who has been described as a cross between Ivor Cutler and Randy Newman.

In 2002, together with the highly-regarded guitarist Ian Carr and bassist Neil Harland, he released an album called Blossom, which took the moving, lyrical poems of Louis MacNeice and set them to music.

The album earned him something of a cult following and, 13 years later, the three joined forced again to create ‘Eve’s Bonie Squad’.

The gig takes place on Monday, January 18. Doors open at 7.30pm. Tickets, costing £10, are available from the box office on 01450 360688 or from the Visit Scotland desk at Tower Mill.
