Preview: Stowed Out gig for Syria

Having seen recent news reports detailing the horrendous conditions experienced by children displaced by the civil war in Syria, Stowed Out Festival put a call out for performers to take part in a fund raising gig for Unicef's ongoing relief work.

Chris Wemyss from Stowed Out Festival said: “The response has been fantastic, with all ages of performers from across the Borders flocking to offer their time.” The Big Syria Gig will be headlined by Ruff Cut, the hardest rockin’ blues band in Scotland, and All the Angels, who describe their sound as a Beat, R&B, Soul, Retro review.

Other Acts include Bug Eyed, Artist Husler and Robyn Flockart, and as a special treat there will be spoken word performances from Bridget Khursheed, Pat Miller and Jane Pearn.

The gig is this Saturday (January 30) in Stow Town hall. Doors open at 7. Tickets priced £8/£6 are available on line at Brown Paper Tickets, Stow Post Office and on the door.

If that’s not your thing there is also a Burns Supper and Ceilidh in the Macfie Hall in Heriot the same night, with proceeds going to Save the Children’s Child Syrian Refugee Crisis Appeal with tickets also available from Stow Post Office.

This year’s Stowed Out festival will take place on August 26 and 27.
