Berwick got their League Cup campaign off to a losing start when they were beaten by the highly-fancied Glasgow at Shielfield on Saturday.

But the scoreline only tells half the story as this was a meeting in which the Tigers staged a dramatic recovery, after trailing by 12 points at one stage.

The Bandits dominated the early proceedings, racing into a commanding 27-15 lead by producing the first seven race winners, including two each for skipper Kevin Doolan, Claus Vissing and guest Kenneth Bjerre, who was standing in for the injured Ben Barker.

Three 5-1s and four shared heats saw the home side seemingly heading for a comfortable victory.

But the visitors had other ideas, and as the track started to dry out they clawed their way back into contention.

First of all ex-Bandit Kozza Smith won as a double-pointed tactical ride in heat eight, before two 2-4s in 10 and 11, after Vissing fell in second place in the latter, saw the gap reduced to 36-33.

As the Tigers’ wins kept on coming, Aaron Summers won his second race in 12 before the visitors edged in front for the first time at 40-41 with a 1-5 from Nick Morris and William Lawson in 13.

Dimitri Berge then won in 14 forcing a last heat decider at 43-44, and the Tigers completed their remarkable comeback by making it eight race winners in a row, Morris and Lawson taking another 1-5 in 15 to give them a five point winning margin.
