Barker back for Bandits

Barker suffered broken bones in the heel of his left hand when he crashed out on his debut for the club, the Tyne-Tweed Trophy clash against Newcastle at Shielfield.

At first it was feared he would be out of action for ‘three or four weeks,’ although the rider himself was quoted as saying he wanted to making a return earlier than that.

The Great Britain international missed the weekend double defeat at the hands of Glasgow, when Bandits used guest riders to cover, but now he has declared himself ready to return to racing this Saturday when the team faces Edinburgh at home in a League Cup fixture.

Berwick are also hoping that Thomas Jorgensen will be able to take his place in the team after he crashed out with a sore shoulder at Glasgow on Sunday.

The Dane admitted he was in some pain but expects to be able to take his place against the Monarchs.

However, there will be no place for new signing Matic Voldrih. The Slovenian broke his leg in his nationaln championships on Monday and will now be sidelined for several weeks.
