Lauder primary school pupil Amy Morris has qualified for the final of the Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead later this year on her 128cm pony Madonna.

Amy, who has just turned 11, took over the ride on Madonna just three months ago and has formed an amazing partnership with the mare already.

They started jumping the first round qualifiers to gain experience at these heights but soon proved they were very capable, gaining her double clears very quickly which qualified her for the second rounds at Southview small pony premier where they notched just four faults on each day.

A fortnight later, at Morris Equestrian Amy jumped the first clear of the class and went on to finish third overall and secure her place at Hickstead.

Their next big qualifiers will be for the Royal Highland Show when they start in March.
