The French had hopes of winning the championship outright but instead they ended up second best at the Stade de France, north of Paris, leaving their visitors to party like it was 1999, that being the last time the Dark Blues had beaten les Bleus in France, and gifting the championship to Wales.
Their 27-23 victory left Gregor Townsend’s side in fourth place in the Six Nations table, level with Ireland on 15 points.
