Gala rugby players help to get golf going again at Torwoodlee

Torwoodlee Golf Club, on the fringes of Galashiels, was among many keen to get members back playing last weekend, as soon as the go-ahead for a partial lift of lockdown conditions was given.

To assist the greenkeeper with the large amount of work required to prepare the course, a squad of 11 players from Gala RFC offered to help, so the course would be ready in time for the much-anticipated loosening of restrictions last Friday.

The chairman of Torwoodlee Golf Club, Robin Brydon, was delighted with the offer and the outcome. He said: “Please pass sincere thanks to all the lads involved for their great effort in the heat.”
