Peebles mountain bike star Isla Short misses out on Commonwealth Games medal

There was Commonwealth Games disappointment for Peebles cyclist Isla Short as she missed out on a medal in the mountain bike women’s cross-country final in Birmingham.

Short, 25, was in the running early on but eventually ended fourth as she couldn’t keep up with the ferocious pace set by English rider Evie Richards, who won gold at Cannock Chase Forest on Wednesday afternoon.

Australia's Zoe Cuthbert got silver, with South Africa's Candice Lill taking bronze.
