Lauren racks up fine finishes on track

The last closed-doors stock car race meeting of September at the Cowdenbeath Racewall was held in beautiful, sunny weather and, as a result, brought out the best in the drivers on a dry, fast track.

Lauren Ford, of Earlston, made the long trip to west Fife and was having a run with her Prostock Basic car.

After such a good run of results, Lauren started her races from the red grade.

In all of her races, she had to dice with the other red grade drivers while making her way through the field.

In the opening heat, Lauren finished in fourth place and repeated the result in the next heat.

In the final, she was working her way steadily through the field and, during the closing stages, was in third place. However, the car just ahead of her shed a wheel and rolled – but she managed to miss the incident to finish in second spot.

This weekend, there is another closed-door session, featuring the Micro F2 drivers and Prostock Basics drivers, while there will also be practice sessions for other formulae.

Drivers must pre-book but check the GMP website for further information.
