Champion Border triathletes collect awards

Borders Triathlon Club recently held its annual presentation evening in which various trophies were presented, including club championships.

President Graham Turnbull praised the many achievements of lots of members in all age categories and at all distances from sprint to extreme-ironman distance, off-road and road, and various disciplines such as duathlon, aquathon, swim/run and aqua-peddle as well as triathlon.

William Taylor has represented Great Britain in the junior team, while John Haldane was awarded a lifetime membership for all his services to the club over several years, supporting all club events.

Michelle Short was awarded the trophy for special achievements in the past year.

Going Long Trophy was jointly won by Graham Turnbull and Scott Anderson having both completed the Lakesman (ironman distance) in three consecutive years.

Special Award went to Mary and Charlie Roberts for their services to the club as joint treasurer since the club began many years ago.

Most Improved Athlete was given to Jen Routley, while Club Champion and Vet Female was Leonie Cairns, and Vet Male was Keith Maclure.

The Junior Champion was presented with the trophy on the previous Friday at Gala Swimming Club. For the first year since the junior championship was introduced, the winner was female – Ava McLeod.
