Savello, on whom Ms Andrews, pictured, finished fourth in the Grand Annual Chase at Cheltenham, stormed past the post five lengths clear of Dormello Mo, and was also a maiden track success for Andrews’ employer, Dan Skelton.

Andrews said: “I rode the last winner at Wetherby yesterday and then went home. I flew up from Birmingham and I am getting a lift back to the Midlands in the horsebox tonight.

“It’s a great place to come to and the prize money is terrific. Our yard has had a wonderful year and it would new nice to get 100 winners. I had a walk around before racing and it’s a lovely track. The chase track is more galloping and Savello loved the test – a fast-run 2m suits him.”

There was plenty of Borders success too, with Hawick jockey Jamie Hamilton bringing home Lowandbehold – trained by Yetholm’s Sandy Forster – to take the Belhaven Best Novices’ Handicap Steeple Chase.

There was a winner for Hawick jockey Tom Hamilton, riding Some Lad to success in the Ashleybank Investments Reg & Betty Tweedie Handicap Steeple Chase.

Joanna Walton piloted Durban Gold to success in the last race of the day, the Lads & Vultures Open Hunters’ Steeple Chase, for Bonchester Bridge-based owner/trainer Diana Walton.
