FJORDHUS REIVERS II2

An undefeated Reivers team travelled up to a very cold and windy Linlithgow to take on their mid table hosts.

Linlithgow started the stronger but failed to test the visiting keeper and once Reivers settled into the game they became the more dominant team creating numerous chances for attacking siblings Ashley and Sara Robson. Elena Lunn had a solid game in midfield distributing the ball out wide to Sarah Mathers and Lara Patterson who were able to break quickly. The dominance paid off when Patterson played a killer pass to Sara Robson who slotted home to put Reivers 1-0 up going into half time.

Linlithgow scored within five minutes of the restart from a well worked penalty corner which gave the host team confidence. However the very young Reivers defence and trusty “old” keeper Jackie Wilson threw their bodies on the line to keep their hosts at bay.

That stubbornness in defence gave the Reivers attackers the chance to score a winner with Tara Aitchison pouncing on a loose pass and staying composed to place the ball passed the home keeper.

A very gutsy performance from the seconds who ground out a win against a very tough opponent in difficult conditions.
