The plus one handicapper was in South Wales to play in the Faldo Series Wales Championship.

The Faldo Series was created in 1996 by Sir Nick Faldo to create access to the sport for a younger audience and is regarded as the only global amateur series for boys and girls, catering annually for around 5000 young players aged 12-21.

Jack was in Abu Dhabi last year too, after winning the Faldo Series 2019 Scottish qualifier in Edinburgh.

This one had the largest entry ever for a Faldo Series event, with 260 girls and boys registered. It was also the first time a Faldo event was played over two courses, because of the volume of entries.

Jack was in the under 18 category, which was cut from 64 boys to 30 after the two qualifying rounds.

He made the cut on a score of level par after scores of two over, around the Wales National on day one, in temperatures of over 34 degrees.

On day two, round the Mackintosh course, he shot a great two under par score of 69 on another very hot day.

After his two rounds, Jack was tied third in the under 18 category and tied eighth overall out of 160 boys.

Day three was another extremely hot day, with temperatures reaching 37 degrees.

Jack played solid golf in the final round, shooting a bogey-free one under par 72 to be clubhouse leader in his section.

In the end, he had to settle for a tied second-place finish in the under 18 category, after losing out on the win by one shot.

He finished tied fifth overall, which was a great achievement – many of the competitors were older than him, owing to the Faldo Series being an under 21 event.

Jack won himself a trip to Abu Dhabi to play in the Faldo Series Grand Final, at the Al Ain Equestrian Shooting and Golf Club, later in the year.

He is supported by the Rowan Boland Trust, George Crawford Legacy Trust, Clubsport Ettrick and Lauderdale, and Titleist/Footjoy UK.
