High-quality standards in junior championship at Torwoodlee
The early rounds saw some great ties, with the pick of the round being the game between Cameron Brydon and Kyle Anderson.
Both players have had a great start to the season, with victories and great finishes in the gents’ competitions. Cameron concluded the tie strongly, winning at the 18th with an excellent finish.

Hide AdThe semi-final saw defending champion Harry Chisholm play against the number one seed Lyle Gillie.
Harry was in control of the match until the late stages. Lyle bounced back to life after being down for the whole game, until he managed a run of par, birdie, bogey to come out on top with a victory at the last.
In the other semi, the Brydon brothers were looking to come back from a defeat in the gents’ C Class semi-finals earlier in the week. In a great game, Cameron edged out his brother and set up a mouth-watering final against Lyle Gillie.
The final was an excellent tie, with both players competing well, and Cameron Brydon managed to beat Lyle at the last hole. Looking back over his scorecard, he recorded a 78 (nine over par) and lifted the championship trophy for the first time.

In the handicap event, Caitlin Green, last year’s winner, played Ciaran Corcoran in the final.
Ciaran was giving Caitlin five shots but managed to win the tie in his first full season with a handicap. The third place play-off was between Max Black and Greg Anderson, with Greg coming out on top.
Thanks were extended to all the volunteers who helped referee the games and to Torwoodlee’s junior sponsors for the season – The Trophy Guy, Chisholm Roofing Ltd, NFU Mutual and Down to Earth foods.
