Within two minutes, Kelso were on the scoresheet and playing comfortably right up to the half-time whistle.

The second half began with Kelso firing straight at goal to see them go 2-0 up.

However, the game was unfortunately suspended for 10 minutes while Kelso player C Pollhammer received treatment for a broken wrist.

His team-mates and everyone else connected with the club wished him a speedy recovery.

Kelso bounced back after the hold-up and went on to win the game 5-0, earning themselves a place in the Division 3 Cup Final against Arniston Rangers on Sunday, June 27.

Kelso then faced another challenge, from Newtongrange Star, in the last four of the Charles Kivlin Cup.

They travelled up to Newbattle High School last weekend to face Star, who were sitting second in their league.

This was no easy game, with the wind against the players, said team administrator Marley Arnold, and the score was 0-0 at half time.

The second half was much the same as the first, with end-to-end football until, in the 55th minute, Newtongrange made a break and put one away to take the lead.

Kelso, never ones to give up, gave it their all for the rest of the match, with plenty of chances hitting the crossbar.

Finally, with what would be the last kick of the game, Kelso equalised to take it to a penalty shootout and they came out on top 4-2.

They will now face either Crammond FC or Spartans Whites in the final, on a date to be confirmed.
