Match report: Gala Fairydean Rovers 4, Edinburgh University 1
Edinburgh University got off to a flying start when Louis Maurice finished off a slick move down the left to put the visitors in front after just six minutes.
The Galashiels side’s response was almost instant, however, with Addison rounding the keeper in the 12th minute and smashing the ball into the roof of the net from a tight angle.

The students still looked lively on the break, though, and had a couple of chances to regain their lead.
It was anyone’s game at the interval but Gala stepped up a gear and went in front in the 56th minute, when Archie Roue netted his first goal for the club by bursting through on the right and chipping the ball over the advancing keeper in the 56th minute.
It was Addison who went home clutching the match ball, though, after a couple of slick finishes in the 61st and 70th minutes to wrap up victory for Gala.

Tuesday’s victory followed a 2-1 away win against North Lanarkshire’s Cumbernauld Colts on Saturday, the visitors’ scorers being Ben Herdman, notching up his first competitive goal for Gala after 55 appearances, and Ross Aitchison.
Rovers’ next match is against BSC Glasgow, in second spot on 18 points following last night’s 4-4 draw with third-placed Bo’ness United, at the Netherdale 3G Arena on Saturday, November 14, kicking off at 3pm.
The Borderers were this week drawn against Dumfries and Galloway’s Wigtown and Bladnoch in the second preliminary round of this season’s Scottish Cup.
That game will be played in Galashiels on Saturday, December 12.
