That 4-0 victory in Northumberland lifts co-managers Ruairidh Fleming and Paul Currie’s West Linton side up two places to second in the table, on 12 points from seven fixtures, one behind league leaders Edinburgh United though they’ve played two matches more.
Their scorers versus Tweedmouth were Sam Meaney, Currie, Pol Adrian and Andy Watson.
Saturday also saw the south-east conference’s first Borders derby of this term and it went the way of Hawick Royal Albert by 3-2 away to Vale of Leithen.
On target for manager Kenny Aitchison’s Royalists at Innerleithen’s Victoria Park were Ayoola Olusoji, Harry Fowler and Ben Tracey, with Kyle Kivlichan and Jack Furness netting for Ger Rossi’s hosts.
That result moves Albert up one place to fifth, on ten points from five games, with Vale staying put in eighth, on six from four.
A division up, Coldstream drew 4-4 at home to Kirkcaldy and Dysart on Saturday.
On the scoresheet for gaffer David Brown’s hosts at Home Park were James Paxton at the double, Thomas Grey and Craig Bell, with Kieran Dall twice, Kyle McCulloch and Callum Murray netting at the other end of the pitch for the visiting Fifers.
That third draw of the season leaves the Streamers as they were in the EoSFL’s first division, 12th, now on six points from as many games.
Albert and Vale take a break from league duty this coming Saturday to contest second-round South Region Challenge Cup ties, both at home with 2.30pm kick-offs, to the South of Scotland Football League’s St Cuthbert Wanderers and EoSFL division one’s Heriot-Watt University respectively.
That will be Albert’s first meeting with the Kirkcudbright club since a 1-0 home defeat in September 2013 in round one of the Scottish Cup.
Vale have gone up against the Edinburgh students more recently, however, twice losing 2-1 to them in 2024 in EoSFL division one, in March of that year at home and May away.
Coldstream and Hotspur are out of action this weekend and won’t get back on the ball until Saturday, September 12, against West Lothian opposition, respectively Bathgate Thistle in the league and the EoSFL premier division’s Whitburn in round two of this season’s Alex Jack Cup, both 2.30pm kick-offs.
That day also sees Vale at home to Tweedmouth on league duty, at 2.30pm too, but Albert have got the weekend off and don’t play again until Tuesday, September 15, away to Edinburgh’s Tynecastle in the league, with kick-off at 7.30pm.
