Borders derby lined up this weekend in East of Scotland Football League’s Conference B

Two of the Borders’ three sides in the East of Scotland Football League’s First Division Conference B come up against each other this weekend.

Hawick Royal Albert United will host Peebles Rovers at 2.30pm on Saturday, November 7.

Hawick currently sit in seventh place in the 15-team conference with four points after four games.

That’s the same tally as eighth-placed Rovers but the Peebles side have played one more game.

Hawick lost 5-3 to Stirling University last Saturday, and Peebles were also unlucky on their travels, going down 2-1 to Burntisland Shipyard up in Fife.

The Borders’ other side in the conference, Eyemouth United, have a trip to Preston Athletic lined up next Tuesday at 7.30pm.

Hawick’s scorers on Saturday were Lewis Swaney, Macauley Steele and Greg Ford.

Peebles Rovers’ scorer at the weekend was Harry McGill on seven minutes, though the Fife side equalised two minutes later then took a winning lead with a penalty two minutes from the end of normal time, almost half an hour after the visitors’ Gary Tickle was sent off for a second yellow card.
