Youngsters at Chirnside Primary School were up for the cup on Monday, learning a lesson on perseverance.

Pupils at the Berwickshire school were given the chance to take a closer look at the Scottish Cup as its current holders, Hibernian, stopped off during a tour of the country.

And if anyone knows about perseverance, it’s the Easter Road men, who lifted the title for the first time since 1902 by beating Rangers in the final.

Headteacher Nick Trussler said: “We were nominated by a parent whose child had been a match announcer at Hibernian on a match day.

“The children were enthused to hear of Hibernian’s perseverance journey to achieve success after 114 years, and this fits well with our ethos of ‘try your best and continue to persevere when things become challenging’.”

Hibs aim to target 40,000 children, students and fans across 114 venues on the cup’s tour.
