The Galashiels team had been due to travel east to play Berwick Rangers on Boxing Day for the first part of a double-header against the Northumbrians prior to both sides making it into the first round of the Scottish Cup, forcing a schedule reshuffle.

Neither got any further, however, Gala being knocked out by Annan Athletic and Berwick by another Scottish League Two side, Stirling Albion.
