The Edinburgh-born player has had spells at various senior and semi-pro clubs, mainly in the east and south of Scotland. He played most for Cowdenbeath, before moving into management last season with East of Scotland side Craigroyston.

The 31-year-old tweeted on his move to Netherdale: “Delighted to say I’ve taken another step in my footballing career – if you could call it a career – and joined Gala Fairydean Rovers as assistant manager. Looking forward to the season starting this Saturday.”

Sheerin’s playing career began at youth level with Hutchison Vale before he joined East Fife in 2008. During his two years at Methil, he was loaned out to Arniston Rangers and Camelon Juniors, with whom he won the East of Scotland Cup.

Sheerin joined Arbroath on a free transfer and was part of the team which won the Third Division championship. He only stayed for one season before moving to East Stirlingshire, then Camelon Juniors, followed by a spell in amateur football with Heriot Vale.

He hit excellent scoring form in the SJFA East Superleague club after joining Musselburgh in 2014, which led to a move to Livingston.

In 2016, Sheerin moved to Berwick Rangers before a return to SJFA East Superleague football with Kelty Hearts. He was loaned out to Cowdenbeath the following season and signed on a permanent basis.

Sheerin left Central Park in August last year to take up the managerial post at Craigroyston, where he stayed for six months.
