Glancing ahead to this tussle, Selkirk manager Garry O’Connor said: “I am disappointed that we didn’t get three points in our last game against Whitehill Welfare as we dominated the match and deserved a win.

“We played well though but we lacked a killer touch. However, we maintained our recent unbeaten run and shall be looking to continue this against Vale of Leithen on Saturday.

“It’s a derby game and these games take care of themselves as anything can happen. We will be probably starting as favourite but that means nothing. My aim is for Selkirk to finish as high in the league as we can so hopefully we will get three points.”

Vale of Leithen team boss Micky Lawson commented: “The last time we won a competitive game was on October 24.

“Spirit in the camp is remarkably high though, although we might not have been winning we have been competing in all the games we have played in. We keep making costly mistakes though and we have to start cutting this out.

“Selkirk are going well. They have former Scottish internationalists and players who have played full time football at some stage in their side so it’s going to be tough for us. I am looking forward to the game and so are the players as you can’t beat a good derby game”.

Following last night’s away encounter with East Kilbride, Gala Fairydean Rovers return to action in travelling to tackle Dalbeattie Star.

In the East of Scotland League, Hawick Royal Albert entertain Eyemouth United at Albert Park while Peebles Rovers are at home to Burntisland Shipyard in the King Cup.
