The current league leaders have now won the trophy for the fourth consecutive year and never looked likely to relinquish the silverware after John Ferguson had swept in their opener shortly before the half hour mark.

A devastating second-half display from Derek Riddel’s men ensured the cup would be heading back to the Capital as a brace from Scott Wilson and further efforts from Sean Murphy, Kerr Allan and Gavin Kneeshaw sealed the Borders club’s fate.

“We started the game really well but Eyemouth had the best chance of the game within the first 20 minutes, our goalkeeper Neil Fairnie making a cracking save to stop them going in front,” Riddel said. “We then managed to get ourselves on top”.
