Walking Football is a slowed down version of the beautiful game and has all the same rules apart from one. Players cannot run, only walk.

The taster session is primarily aimed at the Over 50’s but is open to all and has been arranged in partnership between Borders Sport and Leisure Trust, Scottish Borders Council’s Community Capacity Department and Gala Fairydean Rovers FC.

Anyone watching Walking Football cannot fail to be impressed with the competitiveness and skill on show but most of all by the fact that the players seemed to enjoy themselves so much. This slowed down version of the sport is perfect for anybody, men or women, who enjoy a challenge, want to be more active, suffered injury and have been told by their doctor or physio to start becoming active again or if they have hung their boots up years ago but miss playing with their mates.

Walking football is a growing sport with clubs being established all over the UK as a way of keeping older players involved in the game.

The event starts at 1pm. For further details contact Drew Kelly Scottish FC Development Officer on 01896 661 166 or [email protected]
