18 goals conceded as all four of Borders’ East of Scotland Football League sides lose out

All four of the Borders’ East of Scotland Football League teams ended up on the wrong sides of their scorelines on Saturday, conceding 18 goals between them.

Coldstream gave away the most goals, going down 6-4 away to Kinnoull in Perth in the EoSFL’s first division.

Next were Hawick Royal Albert, beaten 5-0 away to Inverkeithing Hillfield Swifts in Fife, folllowed by their EoSFL second division south-east conference rivals Linton Hotspur and Vale of Leithen, respectively losers at home to Stoneyburn by 4-0 and Tynecastle by 3-2.

Those results leave manager David Brown’s Streamers 12th in their table, on 11 points from as many fixtures, and Ruairidh Fleming and Paul Currie’s Hotspur, Kenny Aitchison’s Albert and Ger Rossi’s Vale third, fourth and tenth in theirs on 21 points from 12 games, 17 from ten and ten from ten.

Coldstream and Albert are the only ones on league duty this coming Saturday, the former at home to Midlothian’s Easthouses Lily Miners’ Welfare and the latter away to Edinburgh College, with kick-offs at 2.30pm and 3pm.

Vale are at home to Kirkcaldy and Dysart at Innerleithen’s Victoria Park in round one of this football season’s King Cup, with kick-off at 2.30pm, but Hotspur have got the weekend off, next playing on Saturday, October 31, at home to West Lothian’s Fauldhouse United in West Linton on conference duty at 2pm.

Coldstream, the Royalists and Vale are also in league action on the 31st, repectively at home to Fife’s Kennoway Star Hearts, hosting Luncarty and away to Stirling University, all 2.30pm starts.

Captain Thomas Grey racked up a hat-trick for the Streamers, left a man short by a red card for Craig Heugh, with Craig Bell netting too. Scott Chalmers also got a hat-trick at the other end of the pitch and joining him on the scoresheet were Joshua Barbour, Scott Middleton and Ben Ramage.

Another hat-trick was supplied by Caleb Holness for Swifts in Dalgety Bay, with Finlay Shearer and Kyle Mowatt on target too.

Josh Cameron scored twice for Stoneyburn, along with Ryan Robertson and Dean McConnell.

Kyle Kivlichan and Jake Houten were Vale’s goal-scorers, with Fraser Munro, Logan Wilson-Need and Jack Adams on target for their Edinburgh opponents.
