Darts champions bound for Galashiels

PDC World Darts Champion Gary Anderson is all set to arrow in on Galashiels for a packed weekend of action at the oche.

On Saturday, April 18, the Flying Scotsman will appear at the Volunteer Hall in an exhibition match with two-times World Champion Adrian Lewis.

With over 400 people at the event it’s sure to be a cracking evening. Gary will be escorted onto the stage where he will take on Lewis in a Scotland v England challenge match before 16 local players have a chance to take on the champ’s.

Tickets for the Saturday event, sponsored by Barry Dalgleish at Dalgleish Citroen Coldstream, are sold out, but there are still spaces available for the Sunday session from the Trophy Guy, Market Street, Galashiels.

During the matinee event, local children, accompanied by a parent, will have the chance to meet the Eyemouth darts legend when he takes on World Youth Champion Michael ‘Bully Boy’ Smith, at the same venue, in a match to raise money for Cash for Kids.

Doors open at 12 noon and for VIPs there will be a meet and greet with the players and a light snack of homemade stovies and a award wining pie from Wylies butchers in Kelso (1pm-2pm) there are only 26 tickets (2 tables) available for this section.

Tickets for the other section are £20 for adults and £10 for kids. Entry for this section is 2pm and children (aged from 10-17) must be accompanied by a adult. One lucky youngster will also get the chance to play World Champ Anderson on stage. Following this each player will take on the talent of the Gala only darts league before playing a head to head Scotland v England match, again with a piper & drummer leading Gary onto the stage.

Scottish Darts Exhibitions has assured Borders organiser, Kevin Green, that the World Championship trophy will be there for people to see.

The Southern has teamed up with organisers to give away five pairs of tickets for the event on Sunday, April 19.
