Assistancerequiredfor Laudercycle event

Cycling event Tour de Lauder is looking to be a huge success for the fifth year running after selling out in a matter of days.

The award winning event, which is ran by volunteers, has now raised over £100,000 for the Steve Cully Tribute Fund at Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland.

And organisers are calling for everyone in the area to get involved on April 23 this year.

Amber Redmayne from the Tour de Lauder Committee said: “Without the support of the community Tour de Lauder just would not happen.

Our team of volunteers are the backbone to running the event and as it grows we find ourselves reaching out for more.”

The committee are looking for anyone who can provide anything from homemade baking to people who can assist at a refreshment halt. Anyone who can spare some time should email [email protected] or phone 0300 1210 089.

The Tour de Lauder includes two challenging 89 mile and 50 mile routes, starting and finishing at Thirlestane Castle and passing through Peeblesshire, Central Borders and Berwickshire. There will also be cycling related activities at the Castle for children and the annual grand raffle. Go to www.tourdelauder.co.uk for the latest news.
