Anyone for tennis in Kelso and Hawick?
The loosening of Covid-19 restrictions on sports has allowed Borders tennis clubs to get set for some Easter holiday fun.

Coaches Lesley Thomas and Kate Bull, of L&K Tennis, are offering what they bill as an exciting programme of tennis for Borders juniors over the Easter break and the summer term.
They say they are glad to be able to hold group sessions again and junior competitions, allowing youngsters to get active playing tennis.
As coaches at Kelso’s Orchard Tennis Club, plus Wilton Park and Hawick Tennis Club, they are offering free taster sessions for juniors on April 5 and April 12 in Kelso and April 9 and April 16 in Hawick. Spaces are limited because of Covid regulations, so registration in advance is essential. Email [email protected] to sign up.
In addition, they are offering several matchplay sessions during the holidays, open to all juniors in the Borders. Entry for these is online on the Lawn Tennis Association’s competition website.

Both clubs are adding a new LTA initiative to their regular junior sessions. LTA youth start sessions will be running for beginners aged five to 11. They are said to be the perfect introductory course to tennis and participants receive a racket, set of balls, T-shirt and six coaching sessions. Sign-up for these sessions is through club websites, with places again limited. The ladies said: “We are looking forward to welcoming new juniors to tennis and offering lots of opportunities for coaching and competitive matchplay.”
