NOSTALGIA: Kelso Laddie 1968
Just last week Ex-Kelso Laddie Jim Hogarth collected his golden jubilee medal at this year's Kelso Civic Week colour-bussing ceremony.
And 50 years ago, our photographer captured him taking hold of the whipman’s flag while beauty queen Caroline Beveridge, of the Plough Hotel, Yetholm, tied on the colours at a ceremony in Kelso Square. Our photo shows, from left, Miss Beveridge, Judy Steel, David Steel MP, who gave the oration, Mrs G. McCombie, and the Kelso Laddie. In front, Edward Telford, who distributed the colours to the riders.
