NOSTALGIA: Driving instructors hit the road in 1995

Borders driving instructors were heading in the same direction with the formation of a local association this week back in 1995.

Some 13 instructors created the first such group in the region. Its future plans might include the provision of pre-driver road safety or driving theory packs for schools, social functions for members and their families, and other member benefits such as discount tyres and servicing.

Some of you, we are sure, might remember being taught by some of these instructors from Galashiels, Selkirk, Melrose and Lauder, photographed at Netherdale in Galashiels, by late Southern photographer Alastair Watson.
