Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruise have cancelled more holidays - what to do if you have a booking

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd has announced that its three cruise lines, Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruise, will continue to suspend cruise trips until December this year, due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The extension of the suspension of all of its cruises will now include sailings from 1 to 30 November 2020.

Customers to automatically receive a refund

Customers who are booked on cancelled sailings with any of these three cruise lines are being asked to contact their travel advisor or the cruise line they booked with for more information regarding the next steps that they need to take.

Norwegian Cruise Line’s website says, “Guests who had an active reservation on suspended cruises in November 2020 through March 2021 will automatically receive a refund of their cruise fare in the original form of payment for the amount paid within 25 days.”

A 10 per cent off coupon will also be automatically added to the guest's account, which is then valid for one year from date of issue and can be used for any Norwegian Cruise Line trip until the end of 2022.

The company explained that it will "continue to work in tandem with global government and public health authorities and its Healthy Sail Panel expert advisors to take all necessary measures to protect its guests, crew and the communities visited.”

Other cruise delays

Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd isn't the only company which has cancelled trips due to coronavirus.

TUI recently announced cancellations of numerous cruising holidays for 2021, as one of its ships in the fleet is set to be retired. Marella Cruises is retiring the cruise ship Marella Dream, which will leave the TUI cruise brand with four remaining ships, and multiple cruises planned for 2021 have subsequently been cancelled.

Chris Hackney, Managing Director of Marella Cruises, said, “With the ongoing travel restrictions for UK cruise lines still in place, we’ve taken the difficult decision to reshape our cruise programme for the upcoming seasons.

“That means an early retirement for Marella Dream after ten years of service and the redeployment of Marella Discovery from the US to Europe.”

All sailings which were due to take place on the Marella Dream from 26 October 2021 onwards will now be cancelled, and all affected customers are currently being notified.

All impacted customers will be contacted and will have the option to change their holiday for free to any cruise that’s currently on sale with a 10 per cent booking incentive, or alternatively, cancel and receive a full refund.

Alongside this, Cunard, P&O Cruises and Viking Cruises have also all announced that they are cancelling all sailings until 2021.
