Those Met Office yellow warnings, advising Borderers to be wary when travelling, were originally due to end at midnight last night but have been extended for another half-day for all but the far east of the region.

Yesterday’s higher-level amber warning for snow expired at 9pm yesterday, though many roads in the region remained impassable for hours afterwards.

“Further snow showers are likely across western Scotland on Wednesday morning.

“These are likely to lead to further accumulations of snow above around 100 metres with 5cm-10 cm of snow possible above around 250m.

“Any snow accumulations over lower ground are likely to be temporary.

“Icy surfaces will be an additional hazard, along with strong winds leading to some blizzard conditions at times.”
