Inquiries are said to be ongoing to trace further suspects in connection with hoards of class-A and C drugs found during the raids, part of Operation Gatekeeper, an initiative launched to tackle serious and organised crime.

Chief Inspector Andy McLean, a local area commander based at Hawick police station, said: “We will not tolerate any individual who is involved in the supply of controlled substances, and through co-ordinated activity such as Operation Gatekeeper, we will continue to target those responsible for drug crime and bring them to justice.

“A significant amount of class-A and C drugs have now been removed from our streets, which is to be welcomed, and I can assure the public that any information passed to us in relation to drug activity will be acted on appropriately and handled in a discreet manner.
