Tributes are paid to the 'girl with THE best smile' following a River Tweed tragedy
Tender tributes have been paid to a teenage girl who was ‘beautiful inside and out’ after a kayaking tragedy on the River Tweed this week.
Ellice Murray, 15, died after getting into difficulty on the River Tweed at around 3.30pm on Monday.
Specialist water rescue teams and two helicopters joined police, fire and ambulance crews in the search close to Trows Farm near Kelso.
The teen’s body was recovered a short time later.
Her death has led to hundreds of tributes on social media.
Meeting of Minds, a group supporting people with additional support needs, posted: “Meeting of Minds are deeply saddened at the loss of Ellice, our little ray of sunshine.
"The girl with THE best smile, a wicked sense of humour, beautiful inside and out, a real passion for life who has shown us all real strength. Ellice taught us all how to be better.”
Floral tributes and tribute messages have also been left outside a cafe which Ellice’s family run in Kelso.
