Long-term road closure set to cause disruption in Hawick up until Christmas
Construction of the town’s £44m flood defences requires partial closure of Commercial Road from Tuesday, March 17, until just before Christmas.
It will be shut between its Wilton Lane junction and the entrance to Sainsbury’s supermarket.

That one-way restriction in Princes Street comes into force at 8am on Tuesday, March 17, and will continue until 6pm on Friday, December 18.
Traffic will be diverted around the Commercial Road closure via the A7, Mart Street, Bourtree Place, High Street, Tower Knowe, Sandbed, Albert Road, Wilton Path and Princes Street.
The existing 7.5-ton weight restriction in Bourtree Place and High Street will be suspended for the duration of the works.

It will be shut at Nos 4 and 5 Teviot Crescent between 8am this Saturday, March 7, until 6pm the following day to allow for the demolition of a building there.
Diversions will be in place southbound via North Bridge Street, High Street and Walter’s Wynd and northbound via Baker Street, requiring the current one-way order there to be reversed temporarily.
Parking will be prohibited between Nos 1 and 8 on both sides of Teviot Crescent too.

It will be shut between its junctions with Union Street and Oliver Crescent.
Diversions will be in place during that time southbound via Mart Street, Commercial Road, Albert Road and Sandbed and northbound via North Bridge Street, Duke Street and Mart Street.
Access for pedestrians will be maintained.
